You’ve been invited to a baby shower, but the parents don’t know the gender of the baby. Instead of getting the generic diapers and wipes that many people tend to give to new parents, consider making a basket with a variety of items inside. The first thing that you need to do is choose a basket. Since you don’t know the gender, white or brown would be good options. However, green or yellow are good options as well when you’re making gender neutral baby gifts as they can add a little color to the gift table.
When you begin getting items to put in the basket, you can choose a theme, such as bath time, or get a few items that you think the new parents might need. Other themes that you could use include animals, a favorite cartoon, stripes, or polka dots. Put colorful paper in the bottom of the basket that matches the basket itself as well as some of the other details that you add to the gift. Consider adding a few items that the mother can use after the baby is born, such as lotions or a gift card to a grocery store or restaurant. If you decide to include diapers and wipes, then add a few that are a larger size since most people give newborn diapers to new parents.
Include items that are cute and cuddly, such as a teddy bear or a rubber duck that can be used when the parents give the baby a bath. Try to get items that are unique and that the parents might not think about needing, such as a thermometer to test the temperature of the bath water. Wrap the basket with clear cellophane that is the same color as the basket after you’ve included all of the items that you’re going to give, attaching a bow or a card on the outside of the gift before you go to the shower.
